Courtyard Theatre Competition
This year in the summer months of 2006, as it is already a tradition, the fifteen'th
Courtyard Theatre Competition will take place. The competition accepts private and state owned theatres, both from Poland and abroad.
The organizer of the Courtyard Theatre Competition is Dom Kultury Śródmieście, since 2003 leaded by Andrzej Tadeusz Kijowski.

Chief sponsors of the event include Warsaw self-government institutions.
During the past fifteen years of the competition performed in Café Lapidarium, where it was born on Nowomiejska St., in Gwiazdeczka on Piwna St., on the courtyard of Stara Dziekanka (The Old Deanery) at Krakowskie Przedmiescie. In 1998 it took place on the picturesque market of Mariensztat.
. Since 1999 the Competition takes place in Swiss Valley (Dolina Szwajcarska).
The theater companies compete for a prize founded by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage,The Starosty of Warsaw Poviat, the Borough Warszawa - Centrum and its Central District.
The jury consists of well-known members of the theater world: Barbara Borys-Damięcka, Stanislaw Górka Adam Kilian, Dorota Wyzynska. Since 2000, othey were joined by: Izabella Cywinska (1992-1998),Zofia Kucówna (1999-2000), Wojciech Malajkat (1994-1998), Maciej Wojtyszko (1993-1998) and Wanda Zwinogrodzka (1992-1993).The Courtyard Theatre Competition is also open to theatres from abroad.
The Managing and Artistic Director is a publicist Andrzej Tadeusz Kijowski.
For the past fifteen years the Courtyard Theatre Competition has been one of the rare cultural attractions in the capital during the holiday season.

- It is addressed to a large group of recipients of various ages. The competition is a family type event.

The duration of each performance during the nine summer weekends (Sunday, Monday) does not exceed 1 hour.

The group of permanent Competition participants increases each year.
Both Polish and foreign spectators visit the competition performances.

Thanks to an easygoing atmosphere of a summer carnival foreigners get acquainted with Polish culture and customs.
